Welcome to the Garfinkel Immigration staff spotlight series, where we will conduct a bimonthly Q&A with one of the Firm’s team members. In this edition, we spoke with Case Manager Laura Crawford.
What drew you to the immigration law field?
Growing up in a multicultural, immigrant family allowed me to see firsthand the importance and ever-evolving nature of immigration law. This personal connection has given me a unique perspective on immigration and keeps me motivated to play a positive role in someone’s immigration journey.
What have you found most rewarding about working in immigration law?
The most rewarding aspect for me is the direct impact on our clients’ lives. The immigration process is a complex one, and helping our clients navigate intricate scenarios and finding solutions is very fulfilling.
What do you consider your most significant professional accomplishment?
It is hard to choose one as it is always rewarding when our clients obtain legal permanent residence after a long immigration journey, but one of my most significant accomplishments was assisting our attorney in a pro-bono case for a young woman who was victim of a crime in obtaining legal status.
What is your favorite thing to do when you’re not working?
I enjoy traveling with my husband, spending time with family and friends, trying new cuisines, hiking, and of course, going on long walks with my dog, Scout.
What is your favorite movie or TV show? Why?
My favorite movie is “The Prestige” with Christian Bale, Hugh Jackman, and Michael Caine. I couldn’t believe the ending! I must admit I also enjoy reality TV.
What is one thing most people don’t know about you?
I have recently fallen in love with running!
