Six Garfinkel Immigration Law Firm attorneys have been recognized in the latest edition of Best Lawyers®.
Founder Steven H. Garfinkel, Managing Partner Hannah F. Little, Partner William R. Hummel, Partner Meredith W. Barnette and Senior Associate Attorney Nam Douglass were all recognized for their work in immigration law in The Best Lawyers in America® in 2025.
Meanwhile, Partner Colleen F. Molner was named to the Best Lawyers: Ones to Watch in America immigration law list, an award given annually to early-career attorneys who have demonstrated “outstanding professional excellence” in their practice area.
Best Lawyers® was first published in 1983. The organization’s “methodology is designed to capture, as accurately as possible, the consensus opinion of leading lawyers about the professional abilities of their colleagues within the same geographical area and legal practice area.” The survey process is “sophisticated, conscientious, rational and transparent,” in order “to elicit meaningful and substantive evaluations of the quality of legal services.”
Just 6% of lawyers were recognized in the 2025 edition of Best Lawyers®, according to the organization.
The six honorees have been practicing immigration law for more than 110 years, combined. Little, Molner, Hummel and Douglass are all certified as Specialists in Immigration Law by the North Carolina State Bar, the highest level of specialization attainable in N.C.
