Three Garfinkel Immigration Law Firm attorneys have been selected to leadership roles on American Immigration Lawyers Association (AILA) national committees.
Managing Partner Hannah F. Little will serve as Vice Chair of the organization’s Innovation and Technology Committee, Partner William Hummel was designated as the Immediate Past Chair of the Global Migration Section, and Senior Associate Attorney Catherine Magennis has been chosen as the Vice Chair of the Military Committee.
AILA was founded in 1946 and is a “nonpartisan, nonprofit, voluntary bar association that provides continuing legal education, professional services, information and expertise” to more than 16,000 attorneys across the country. The organization’s mission is to “promote justice, advocate for fair and reasonable immigration law and policy, advance the quality of immigration and nationality law and practice, and enhance professional development.”
AILA’s Innovation and Technology Committee prepares and equips members with “better tools to deliver legal services to their clients,” which includes focusing on digitization of processes, collaborating with tech companies to facilitate innovation, and developing educational resources. The Global Migration Section “provides global practitioners with a structured forum and means to share ideas and information,” while the Military Committee provides resources, knowledge and legal counsel to members of the United States Armed Forces.
The three attorneys have been practicing for more than 40 years, combined, and Little and Hummel are both certified as Specialists in Immigration Law by the North Carolina State Bar, the highest level of specialization attainable in the state.
Little and Magennis were both recently recognized by Super Lawyers and named to the Business North Carolina 2024 Legal Elite List, while Little and Hummel were honored in the most recent edition of Who’s Who Legal. Moreover, Little received a top-level Band 1 designation in the prestigious Chambers USA Immigration in North Carolina Legal Rankings and was named The Best Lawyers in America® 2024 Charlotte Immigration “Lawyer of the Year.”
