Garfinkel Immigration Partner William Hummel was recently featured in a piece published by his alma mater Davidson College.
The profile focuses on Hummel’s path to immigration law, his volunteer work and highlights his compassion and professionalism while working with businesses, families and students.
“The first time I met him I realized right away that he knows his stuff,” Davidson director of international student programs Thomas Greene said in the piece. “He’s very student-centered, he treats them like someone would who works in student life here. He’s got a vested interest in their future; he wants the best outcome for them. He’s knowledgeable, compassionate and has a commitment to using his skills to give back to Davidson.”
Hummel received his bachelor’s degree from Davidson in 2006 before attending the University of Florida College of Law, where he graduated Cum Laude in 2012.
“He’s someone who’s behind the scenes, in his very humble way, doing really important and fabulous things for this community,” Davidson director of parent giving Chris Alexander said in the profile. “The Will Hummel we see today is on the trajectory he started at Davidson. He wants to help people — often with language barriers — who come to this country or were already here and face legal challenges to obtain rights so many American citizens take for granted.”
Hummel is one of a limited number of attorneys certified as a Specialist in Immigration Law by the North Carolina State Bar and represents employers, entrepreneurs and employees in a variety of industries including, but not limited to, financial services, education, specialty chemical, biomedical research and technology.
Hummel also assists clients with global (non-U.S.) immigration matters and oversees Garfinkel Immigration’s family-based immigration and citizenship/naturalization practice.
